Ski Areas: Outlying Areas
There are many other ski stations within easy reach of Les Houches. Those skiers who have already spent a lot of time in the Chamonix valley itself may like to explore the nearby villages which are all covered by the Mont Blanc lift pass.
Megève/St Gervais is a chic fashionable village, popular for its rustic charm and pretty scenery. The skiing comprises mainly intermediate cruising on beautiful tree-lined runs. Long lunches in the gourmet mountain restaurants are obligatory! The area can be accessed from Les Houches via the Tramway du Mont Blanc, although it is probably quicker to drive there.

Les Contamines is a traditional unspoilt Alpine village that is much quieter than many of the surrounding ski stations. There are extensive runs for intermediates and there is good off-piste and ski-touring in the area.

Courmayeur is a 45 minute drive through the Tunnel du Mont Blanc into Italy. The views of the Italian side of Mont Blanc are stunning. The area is ideal intermediate terrain.

Further Afield
Flaine is located off the motorway between Chamonix and Geneva approximately one hour from Les Houches.
